Comedy skills build life skills A.D.D. For Fun teaches writing, performance and includes a showcase evening for friends and family. This pioneering program plays to one of the great strengths of many ADDers: COMEDY. As any teacher knows, ADD kids are often class clowns and, at their best, provide much needed comic relief. Some can be disruptive, however. Others simply “tune out.” A.D.D. For Fun challenges its participants to move beyond limiting beliefs and behaviors. ADDers are creative thinkers, but they have difficulty putting ideas down on paper. ADD For Fun kick starts the creative process by employing innovative techniques that simply get participants to produce written material. A good deal of our work is to help them identify the negative thoughts, self-criticism and emotional blocks that they have developed from years of frustration and boredom.
ADD FOR FUN Teaches Awareness Awareness of a problem is the first step in moving through it. Many participants experience an “Aha” moment, from which they choose new behaviors and strategies. To
cement the new learning, each participant receives personalized phone
coaching with program directors Kevin Roberts and Tony Vicich, as well
as weekly online chat rooms. Celebrating Who We Are! A
big part of what we do is to honor who we are as ADD individuals and delight
in the power of our unique gifts and contributions to the world. Rather
than wallow in self-pity that we are afflicted with a “disorder,”
we choose to focus on the extraordinary potential we possess. Success in school and life We
encourage belief in oneself. We assist participants over the humps of
self-doubt and apathy. When self-criticism turns into self-confidence,
the possibilities are endless. Program Directors Tony Vicich, is an ADD adult and a comedy coach/teacher in Los Angeles, California. Starting his Stand-up comedy career in L.A. in 1985, Tony has been a national touring standup comic for 20 years. His television credits include EVENING AT THE IMPROV, SHOWTIME, MTV, COMEDY CENTRAL, FOX, and TNN. In his spare time, he runs marathons and goes bird watching. Kevin Roberts, also an ADD adult, was a teacher for six years, and has been an ADD Coach for the past seven. He has a reputation as an extraordinarily dynamic and creative resource for ADD individuals. Like any self-respecting ADD-er, Kevin has many irons in the fire. He speaks five languages, plays guitar and flute, and is presently working on a one-man theatrical show about being ADD. Tony is his coach in that project and Kevin is Tony's ADD Coach. *Several graduates staff each workshop. We encourage participants to come back and staff!
